WordPress is the largest CMS tool used worldwide, mainly because of its ease of use, easy configurability, little to no knowledge of coding required, and of course, large number of open source plugins available. Built on PHP, it is safe to say that it is equally appealing to bloggers, content writers, news sites, e-commerce stores and tech businesses worldwide.
In the initial roadmap stage for a website or business, it is always useful to test deploy WordPress locally, and figure out the basic UI/UX framework before proceeding to start building on that into a formative end product.
That is where BITNAMI WORDPRESS comes in.
Bitnami is one of the largest tech stack solutions in the world, and among its many offerings, is WordPress CMS.
Basically, Bitnami provides you with a local host environment to set up your WordPress site without domain, hosting or any of the other paraphernalia. It is completely free and super fast and secure. Once you are done, the choice is yours to either take the website live by migrating it online with hosting and a domain, or to start it from scratch on a web server, and tweak it as you go.
Test Deploy WordPress – Step 1 – Install Bitnami WordPress
At first, you have to go to the BITNAMI WORDPRESS webpage, and install it to your computer. You can choose to host it on the Cloud, but we suggest that you install it locally.
Test Deploy WordPress – Step 2 – Run Bitnami WordPress
Once you install and open the application on your computer, it should direct you to the starting screen. Here, you have to ‘Start’ an instance.
Test Deploy WordPress – Step 3 – Start Services
Once you have started up the application, it should show you a Green Light on the home screen. Now, you have to click the ‘Services’ tab, and turn on all the services by clicking ‘Start All’, which would turn green subsequently.
Once all the services are working, you can go back to the home page.
Test Deploy WordPress – Step 4 – Launch Application
Now, all you have to do is click ‘Go To Application’, that will direct you to the Login page of a new WordPress site. Please note that this site is for testing purposes only, and that to take it online, you have to buy a domain and hosting. Check out our suggestions for the same.
Once the setup is fully complete, you can test out your ideas and build your site.
